KOMOREBI 木 漏れ 日

(ko, tree), 漏れ (shine through), and (bi, natural light)

Komorebi was inspired by the desire to create a physical and visual connection between the home’s interior and its sunlit backyard. Originally, a wall separated the dining room from the kitchen, blocking the warm light coming in from the west-facing backyard.

The redesigned layout merges the kitchen and dining areas, fostering a seamless connection between the living space and the outdoor deck surrounded by rich Japanese and native vegetation.

The kitchen, especially the island, has been transformed into a gathering space where daily life unfolds. Its rounded corners allow for a smooth flow of movement along the surface. The Ceppo di Gré stone cladding gives the island a monolithic appearance, and when opened, it reveals a warm, white oak interior.

A team of international professionals has coordinated this seamless process. All custom furniture is handcrafted by artisans in Italy, working closely with stone carvers to achieve an exquisite level of detail.

From the blue tones of dawn in the east to the warm glow of sunset in the west, a rediscovered natural light fills the space.
